Structural Project Portfolio - Educational
Some of the educational projects that we completed are shown below:
Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics, University of Maryland at College Park
Modified the roof framing for new equipment for Upgrade of HVAC Systems. Reinforced existing beams by adding steel plates to top/bottom flanges of beams; completed in 2008.
The Waldorf School of Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland
Designed 2-story building over an existing Parking Structure with a structural steel framing at the floor level, and wood framing with TJI joists at the roof level. Also, evaluated the structural capacity of the existing structure and prepared a report, providing findings and recommendations for deteriorated concrete; completed in 1997.
Catonsville Community College, Catonsville, Maryland
Modified existing floor and roof framing with "precast planks", to allow new mechanical ducts; completed in 1997.
Deep Creek Middle School, Baltimore County Public Schools, Middle River, Maryland
The project includes "modifications to the science wing and mechanical systems to classrooms", requiring changes/reinforcing to existing roof framing by having load bearing walls removed, and introducing new beams; to be completed in 2008 .
Berwyn Heights Elementary School, Berwyn Heights, Maryland
Designed additions and modifications to the existing one story structure with a crawl space. The roof framing included steel joists with bottom chord bearing, to allow a cantilever of the joist and to eliminate additional loads on the existing foundations; completed in 2002.
Carroll County Public Schools, Westminster, Maryland
Designed modifications to roof framing at three schools, to provide new air-conditioning system; completed in 2005.
The Summit School, Edgewater, Maryland
Designed one story structure for a new Gymnasium Hall with a crawl space. The framing at the floor included 4-1/2" metal deck , supporting 6" reinforced concrete slab on 8" masonry walls at 14'-0" spacing. The framing at the roof included a pre-engineered system; completed in 2002.
